手と花では2025年8月9日（土）〜8月24日（日）の会期で 村田圭 写真展 「 Glowing softly 」 を開催いたします。

写真とは「光で書く」ことだとすれば、村田圭の光は酩酊の白熱である。
彼は美に酔い、ありのままの人々に酔い、ありふれたものが崇高になることに酔う。
そのエネルギーは余韻を残し、それまでそこにあったものに明るさを与える。
彼の写真の多くには、目覚めた夢のような、別世界のような感覚がある。
特に夜景は、すべてのものが完全な光と完全な闇の間に存在し、
やわらかく光っていることを、まざまざと思い起こさせる。

If photography is to “write with light” then Kei Murata’s light is the
incandescence of intoxication. He’s intoxicated with beauty, with
people as they are and with the mundane turned sublime. It’s the kind
of energy that leaves an afterglow, lending levity to whatever was
there before. There is a twinge of the otherworldly to a lot of his
photos, like a waking dream. Especially the night scenes with their
stark reminder that everything exists between a state of total light
and total darkness, glowing softly.
